Definition of Glossary Terms
Procedures
Academic administrators and faculty work together to set colleges/school, academic department, and academic program adequate full-time faculty criteria which, once established, must be achieved by the respective entity. An academic department, or academic program requesting an exception to a specific target must provide the Provost with a proposal that includes the revised target and supporting rationale which must be approved by the Provost for the target exception to go into effect.
Sanctions
If a Dean or other administrator becomes aware of a concern regarding this policy they must contact the Provost to discuss documentation of classes and faculty trigger points.
Exceptions
If an academic department or academic program does not meet one or more of its adequate faculty targets, the entity can provide the Provost with additional evidence beyond what is normally required to demonstrate that it does have an adequate number of full-time faculty, and the Provost will determine if that additional evidence is sufficient documentation to affirm that the entity has an adequate number of full-time faculty.
