Policy Language

Graduate research consultations are available to assist graduate students toward becoming more information literate and independent researchers. In addidtion, assistance is also provided to university faculty members in their research and publication efforts. Other services include classroom instruction, workshops, webinars, online tutorials, an online Call Center, and the Scholar’s Speakers Series. Spaces include quiet study areas, lockers, carrels, group study rooms, the Scholar’s Lounge and Scholar’s Conference Room all of which must be used in accordance with the Liberty Way and the library code of conduct.

Policy Rationale

We provide the resources, services, technology and spaces necessary to assist Graduate students and faculty members who often have more extensive and specialized research needs. Graduate and Faculty Research Assistance staff are located in the Scholars Commons of the Jerry Falwell Library.

Procedural Information


Individual research consultations are given in person, or via phone, e-mail, or video chat. Classes, workshops, webinars, and speakers are scheduled in advance. Appointments may be required for thesis, dissertation, or publication assistance. Scholars areas are reserved according to the room reservation policies of the library.
