Policy Language

On the Friday before all courses start, all “moving” requests should be submitted by noon. Written department approval will be required after this point. This includes but is not limited to: student moves into a specific section, overfilling above the cap by -3 students, moves for the separation of students with attributes (residential/online, Professional Counseling – 60 hrs./non-Professional Counseling – 60 hrs.), or placing courses on the course exclusions list for course materials (books, online disparate systems).

Once the courses are “set in stone”, and instructors and students are given access to courses, certain changes should not be made without going through a proper process. After the above deadline, Vice Provost approval will be required for the following: adjusting seat caps or overfilling above the cap of -3, course cancellations, separation of students with specific attributes (residential/online, Professional Counseling – 60 hrs./non-Professional Counseling – 60 hrs.), or placing courses on the exclusions list for course materials (books, online disparate systems).

Policy Rationale

This would provide better customer service to students, faculty, and staff by allowing the Roll/Level process to avoid moves which would cause more damage than benefit to the University. The departments will be well informed about the Roll/Level process and what is expected.
