Procedures

To determine the grade point average (GPA), the quality points earned are divided by semester hours completed. GPA hours are hours that are used in the calculation of the GPA. The following grades are included in GPA hours:  A, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, D+, D, D-, F, and FN. Grades of AU, I, IP, NP, P, PR, Q, R, and W are not included in GPA hours. A grade of B, for example, in a course bearing three semester hours of credit would be assigned nine quality points and a grade of C in that course, six quality points. Thus, if a student takes 16 semester hours of work and earns 40 quality points, his GPA is 2.50 (40 quality points divided by 16 semester hours). Only courses taken at Liberty are used in computing the GPA.
